The village of Dobbiaco is nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, making it an ideal starting point for all kinds of activities: leisurely walks, hiking, cycling, as well as skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, snowshoe hiking, and ski touring. Many of these can be started directly from the farm, and the train station is only 1.5 km away. Buses from there head to Lago di Braies, the Tre Cime, and the nearby ski resorts.
There’s never a dull moment here. And because each season has its own special charm, we’ve put together some of our personal recommendations for you.
When the snow melts and the first flowers blossom, it’s time for the first hikes of the year. Even if there is still snow high up, many of the mountain huts are already open in spring. Or get your bike out of its hibernation and look forward to unique cycling tours in pleasant weather conditions. Take it slow and let nature’s awakening sink in: enjoy a coffee break on the farm or on your balcony with a panoramic view.
A relaxed hike through a larch forest, passing the “WaldWunderWelt” (Forest Wonder World). After about 45 minutes, you’ll reach the Drau’s source. From there, you can continue to San Candido to the Monte Baranci valley station and take the bus back. Alternatively, you can turn the trail into a circular hike: pass the Klammschlössl in San Candido and return to Dobbiaco via Costa dei Nosellari.
